A Response to Mark McCall’s “Is The Episcopal Church Hierarchical?”

Historian Joan Gundersen, in this 8-page paper from Progressive Episcopalians of Pittsburgh, attacks the revisionist church history promoted by the Anglican Communion Institute and attorney Mark McCall. Questions on the Current Controversy Facing The Episcopal Church

This handout was used in Pittsburgh to counter agitation for “realignment” coming from Bishop Robert Duncan and his supporters. It is a 6-page collection of 37 qustions and answers. Although many of the issues dealt with here are specific to the situation of the Diocese of Pittsburgh at the time the document was produced, many others are of a more general nature likely to be helpful in other contexts.

It is perhaps ironic that a Sri Lankan writing in England, Savitri Hensman, whould write such a strong defense of The Episcopal Church and the traditional understanding of the Anglican Communion. This 82-page paper is well-documented and very much worth the time required to read it.

Evaluating the Draft Covenant

Progressive Episcopalians of Pittsburgh (PEP) produced this 198-page guide to the draft Anglican covenant being evaluated in the spring of 2007. The PEP document includes the draft covenant itself, as well as related materials and original contributions from PEP. Although additional drafts have been considered since the first one from the Covenant Draft Group, this guide contains material that continues to be relevant.
